17. července 1996. Z Kennedyho letiště v New Yorku vzlétl let TWA 800 mířící do Paříže. O dvanáct minut později jím otřásla mohutná exploze. Příď se odlomila a ve spirále se řítila k oceánu. Zbytek letadla pohlcen plameny ještě několik set metrů stoupal a pak rovněž dopadl do moře. Hladinu v blízkosti Long Islandu pokryly hořící trosky. Do oblasti byla vyslána záchranná letadla. Lodě začaly na břeh přivážet těla obětí. Zemřelo všech 230 osob na palubě...(Česká televize)
