Kapitán Stottlemeyer požiada Monka, aby polícii pomohol s prípadom profesionálneho boxera Raya Regisa, ktorému chce niekto siahnuť na život. Pri tréningu v telocvični práve zahynul jeho priateľ Eddie, ktorý po údere do Rayovho boxovacieho vreca nechtiac odpálil bombu v ňom ukrytú.
