Jessica přijíždí pomoci staré kamarádce, která je v současnosti senátorskou kandidátkou. Když pak naleznou správce kampaně zavražděného, musí Jessica prokázat její nevinu.Jessica se chopí práce řečníka pro svou přítelkyni Kathleen Laneovou, která se uchází o místo v senátu. Dosud se pohybuje na druhé pozici za protivníkem Arthurem Drelingerem, nicméně dotahuje. Proto se však začínají objevovat útoky na její osobu. Tím posledním je nařčení, že snad má vztah s vedoucím kampaně Budem Johnsonem. Poté, co televizní novinář Edmund Hall publikuje fotky oné dvojice v objetí, Johnson zřejmě neustojí tlak a vyskočí z Kathleenina hotelového balkonu. Kathleen je v šoku, stále má však podporu svého manžela Jacksona Lanea. Jessica i policie si jsou však téměř jistí, že byl Johnson zavražděn, nicméně jak to dokázat? A kdo je oním vrahem?(Radek273)
