Jessica potkává muže, ve kterém pozná svého bývalého souseda. Ten to však popře a kvapně se s ní rozloučí. A tak se obrací na soukromé očko Harryho McGrawa.Jessica v Bostonu naráží na svého známého Johna Winslowa, ten však předstírá, že ji vůbec nezná. Když pak tedy volá jeho manželce Maude do Chicaga, dozvídá se, že John nedávno zemřel na infarkt, což potvrzuje i její bratr Adam Adamson. Jessica je však o své pravdě přesvědčená, a tak si najímá soukromé očko Harry McGrawa. Ten zjistí, že onen muž vystupuje pod jménem John Wilson, a tak Jessica začne prověřovat možná „zfalšovanou“ kremaci. Ve chvíli, kdy ji pak začne sledovat jakýsi Sloan, tuší, že její instinkt je i tentokrát správný. Ve skrytu vyslechne jeho telefonát s místním právníkem Nathanem Swarthmorem, s nímž si tak záhy domluví schůzku. Ten jí ale vše popře. Komplikace nastávají, když je nalezeno Wilsonovo tělo a u něho přistižen McGraw.(Radek273)
